The Gibbs Street Gallery offers exhibitions that explore the breadth of contemporary art featuring emerging to mid-career artists. Exhibits reflect a wide range of media & experimental approaches that offer the viewer unexpected interactions with art. The gallery is approximately 1,100 sq. ft. with 16′ ceilings. It is on the street level with floor to ceiling windows along one wall. (Click here for floorplans.)

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists

DEADLINE: March 31, 2017 11:59 EST

APPLICATION FEE: $15

AWARDS:  Selected artists will be scheduled for a solo exhibition.

Canning food is a time-consuming preparation, but the rewards are huge.  So far, I have managed to shrugged the task off on my mother. ELIGIBILITY:  Open to artists 18+.  *Note: The program is not designed for program is not designed for undergraduate students or commercial artists.

MEDIA:  Open to all media

DEADLINE: March 20, 2017

ENTRY FEE: $15 per application (up to 10 images)

JURORS:  Admission to the VisArts Studio Fellowship is highly selective, based on a review of applications by panels of artists & art professionals. Panelists include painters, sculptors, film and video artists, photographers, installation artists, inter-disciplinary artists, and independent curators. The admission panel is rotated regularly. 

AWARDS:  The Studio Fellowship offers the gift of time and space to two artists and/or collaborative artist teams each year to experiment and realize new work. Fellows will present their work in solo exhibitions at the end of their respective fellowships. Fellows will be provided with a 169 square foot studio, free of charge, for a period of six months + $500 monthly stipend. Each studio is equipped with a sink, Wi-Fi connection & abundant natural light.

Sometimes you just have to jump in and try.  Wary of a new food?  Hold your nose and stick out your tongue–it just takes a few seconds of bravery.  This is how I learned that I hate pistachios and love goat cheese.  By trying them. This Call will be the same idea for many of you. Fifteen dollars, five images and a clear vision of your project in written form.  That’s all it takes.  Maybe it is time to take the leap from local shows to national shows, from national to international shows, from juried to self-curated.  You can do it. SUSTENANCE

When left alone, I tend to eat solitary foods.  I stood in my kitchen and ate cottage cheese (from the container & yes it was end of the container).  For breakfast yesterday, strawberries.  For Monday’s snack, pickled beets.
