I eat more cake than I’d like to admit. In my household, it is most often in the form of cupcakes. It is not because I prefer the taste or portion control of cupcakes. But I find that cupcakes are easier to freeze and store. Did you know that freezing cake (or cupcakes) before they have completely cooled traps some of the moisture in the cake? Call for artists to create and submit artwork inspired by the show’s title Let Them Eat Cake! Portraits of Pastries. Artists are asked to depict any variety of baked goods in their artwork.

The Shoe Factory Art Co-op is looking for originality and boldness of design to stand out on the bistro’s walls.

All mediums considered. All sizes considered, but must be larger than 12”. Artwork will be hung on the walls throughout the café for 3 months.

I have so many guilty food pleasures. One of my favorites is provolone wrapped in prosciutto, stuffed in a pickled cherry pepper and marinated in olive oil. Cheese and salty pork in a fiery pepper, soaked in oil. Sounds healthy, eh? Not. But my delightfully clever husband comes home with a half-dozen occasionally. I look at them disapprovingly, and he always says with a devilish grin, “I’m sorry, are we behaving this week? I didn’t know.” I love that grin. The Shoe Factory Art Co-op seeks artists to create and submit celestial themed artwork to adorn the walls of Starry Nites Café in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts.

Inspiration should come from the show’s title “Fly Me to the Moon: Celestial Bodies at Starry Nites Café”. Subject matter can include (but is not limited to) objects in the night sky such as asteroids, moons, planets, or stars. Rockets, space ships, and other flying objects are also possible.

Anybody else out there love game meats? I have several friends that consume more venison each year than beef because they have relatives that hunt. But, venison is the tamest of the edible game out there. I enjoy pheasant and boar, but elk chops (like the ones from Yo Ranch Steakhouse) are probably my favorite. Saying ossobucco makes me blush. Have you ever noticed how some things just sound naughty in a fun way? A linguist friend of mine swears it is “ck” sound that does it, but neither duck nor luck nor buck make me blush.
