OPEN CALL: Solo Exhibit

Learn more about the Solo Exhibition Opportunity from the Torpedo Factory Art Center!PB & banana

Events have left me at home alone for lunch most days lately.  I’m not good at eating alone.  I’ll adjust eventually, but for now it is bananas & peanut butter or pasta with butter & parm.  I don’t do food solo easily, but art is a much easier solo option.  This next Call is a great outlet for solo work.  Plus, it comes with a little bit of budget.

Check out this Open Call from the Target Gallery at the Torpedo Factory (Alexandria, VA) for Solo Exhibition proposals.  The winner of this Call gets a small stipend to help produce the show.  Take a look…

CALL for ENTRIES: 25 Years at Torpedo Factory!

Just a year or so after the 25th anniversary of my birth, I began my love affair with cheese. Well, more accurately, I began working behind the counter of a gourmet cheese shop.  A world that had previously been defined by cheddar, Swiss and American cheeses now suddenly included choices between cow, goat and even sheep’s milk cheeses.  Sometimes 25 years is the turning point.  This next call wants to see your perspective on the past 25 years’ events.  Whatcha got?

Check out this Call for Entries for the Target Gallery at the Torpedo Factory Art Center (Alexandria, VA) for 25 Years. It is no secret that I love this gallery for their curatorial vision, but I think it is with good reason. Investigate for yourself…

CALL for ENTRIES: Fears & Phobias

Click to Subscribe to www.ArtAndArtDeadlines.com by Email!A-SPARE-ME-AGUS

There was a time when I was scared of asparagus.  No, really.  My only childhood exposure to asparagus was with the canned variety–grayish green, slimy, salty, icky.  I managed to go a span of TWO DECADES without eating it again.  I had developed such a taste aversion that irrationally, somewhere in the back of my brain, I thought consuming it would have dire consequences.  Luckily, someone served me cream of asparagus soup under the guise of cream of broccoli soup, and now I am addicted.  Blanched and marinated in balsamic vinigrette then served cold…I could eat it every day.  This next call seeks to explore YOUR fears.  Anybody want to talk about bloody beets?

Chances are good you’ve EATEN something produced by this school of cooking…Dippin’ Dots for example.  This next Call should host an artists’ reception full of fun, spherized foods.  Maybe I should send them the suggestion…
