When it comes to food, I’m not a fan of participatory requirements at restaurants. I’m not a fan of hibachi. I have no desire to have a chef flip shrimp into my mouth…call me crazy. Fondue may be my only exception to that rule. Nonetheless, I celebrate participatory arts.

ATHICA (also known as the Athens Institute for Contemporary Art) seeks submissions from artists who request the participation of others as a key element of their work.
Artists may pose questions, request submissions, or provide instructions for participants as part of their creative process.
They invite artists who engage others as contributors through dialogue as well as action. Works may be interactive, but the participatory element need not take place during the exhibition.
MEDIA: Multimedia, web-based, performance and installation works are encouraged, in addition to traditional media.
Travel/shipping stipends may be available (funding decisions are on a case-by-case basis).
