My mother loves to read.  I grew up in a house full of books–including cook books.  Maybe I’ll add one of my own cookbooks to her collection some day.  One of my favorite cookbooks is The Vegetarian Epicure.  The author, Anna Thomas once said, “We all eat, and it would be a sad waste of opportunity to eat badly.”  That one statement changed my life and how I approach feeding both myself and my family.  Books have a way of doing that, changing things, I mean.  And, I would make the argument that food changes you as well, for better or worse, depending on your choices.  This next Call give you a chance to change a life with a book.  Investigate…

ELIGIBILITY:  Artists must live or work within the USA.

MEDIA:  All structures of artists’ books, unique or limited edition are eligible. Due to case size and exhibition space, work may not exceed 30 inches in any one dimension, and the sum of all three dimensions may not exceed 48 inches.

DEADLINE:  February 16 , 2014

NOTIFICATION:  March 18 , 2014

JUROR:  Sue Ann Robinson is an artist, educator and museum professional. She has worked at the Long Beach Museum of Art for the past twenty-five years as artist-in-residence, Director of Education, or Director of Collections and Exhibitions. In addition she currently teaches Artists Books and Papermaking at the California State University Long Beach. As an artist she has received multiple residencies, grants, and fellowships including from the City of Los Angeles, the Visual Studies Workshop and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
