BANANAS

Everyone has to eat on the run sometimes.  Not every meal can be separated into  courses that stretch out over 2 hours.  But, compact meals don’t have to be of lesser quality just because they are rushed.  My favorite all-in-one breakfast is bananas with crunchy peanut or almond butter with a few berries chopped for the top. Compact but quality–just like this 4 in 1 Call.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Submissions from Gallery W @ the Whit (Pittsfield, MA) for ALL of their shows for the year.  You read that correctly.  You have until August 20th to submit work in 4 categories, and the categories are GREAT…

CALL for ENTRIES: The Art of Rebellion

We all have a responsibility to know how our food ends up on our plates.  I’ve seen the slaughter videos (horrifying BTW), and I still eat beef.  I have witnessed a chicken lose his head (disturbing), and I still eat chicken.  But I have to say, I’m not cooking live lobster or crab.  My husband is allergic to shellfish, so it doesn’t come up all that often, but I’m not going to fight my food.  Lobsters and crab have a documented history of fighting the cooking process.  Not this girl.  Thanks, but no.  This next Call is looking for your brand of rebellion.  Lobsters and crabs are not eligible to apply…

Check out this Call for Entries for The Art of Rebellion from Gowanus Print Lab in Brooklyn, NY!  Except for the rare “no entry fee” opportunity, entry fees don’t get cheaper than $5 for 5 images.  The only catch is that you have to be a student. Take a look…

CALL for ENTRIES: The Art of Rebellion

Learn more about the Gowanus Print Lab in Brooklyn NY!2011 has been a year of rebellion.  This year has seen long-standing monarchs overthrown in Egypt and Libya and mass protests for calling change in the economic-political power structure in Europe and the United States, most notably in Occupy Wall Street.

Dissent at this level has not been seen since the late 1960’s, where protesters developed both nonviolent and more radical protest techniques that are still used in today’s struggles.

Young people in particular are standing up and using their voice, and in times of social turmoil and political upheaval art can be used as a powerful and emotional communicative tool.
