THEME: Submit a cohesive series or a selection of your best images.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all photographers internationally.

DEADLINE: Received by November 1, 2012.

ENTRY FEE: For up to 20 images: $16 for non-subscribers (include check with submission, or click here to pay online using PayPal) and FREE for current, renewing and new subscribers (for subscription information, please visit the Order Page)

AWARD: Photographers selected for inclusion will be interviewed for publication and featured on at least 4 pages in this annual edition of SHOTS.

I enjoy chargrilled foods.  I know many chefs that prefer to grill over gas or propane.  They all give me the “if I wanted to eat charcoal, I could just eat a briquette.”  Snobs.  If charcoal residue is the worst thing I ever consume, I think I’ll be fine. This next Call for Entries might be interested in what you cook over open flame… Give it a shot, no pun intended.

Is it wrong that I love rice cakes? I know that I preach about having an adventurous palate, and I know you are imagining that squeaky sound that styrofoam makes. But no… rice cakes HAVE changed.  I implore you to look at their whole portfolio. They have grown from awful, dry, coaster-sized, hideous snacks to bite-sized morsels with flavors like Vanilla Creme Brulee and Chocolate Drizzle…how about Pomegranite Crisp. This next Call for Entries is wants to see YOUR portfolio… Give it a shot, no pun intended.

I been eating a lot of junk food for the past few days. I’m on the road in Nashville for a couple of days (which is why I’ve missed a couple of posts, sorry), and you would think that I would seize the opportunity to try out the local fare.  But no…  road trips make me crave junk food.  However, when I get home tomorrow, I will welcome back old standards like spaghetti night. This Call for Entries is for a photography magazine that many would consider an “old standard,” not that it is in its 25th year of publication… tried and true.

I love experimenting with new ingredients, but I also know when to rely on a time-tested recipe.  Like most food enthusiasts, I own my own original printing (1960s) of the Better Homes & Gardens Red and White Cookbook because if I ever need to know the truth about a staple, I have a resource.  This call is for art publication in a magazine in its 24th year of publication…tried and true.
