make brown

My cooking could be kindly described as abstract.  As long as I get the flavor profile correct, I tend not to care if it actually looks like the textbook dish.  That results in a lot of brown food for some reason.  Maybe it is my love of of dark vinegars and mushrooms.  Who knows.  This next Call is looking for your abstractions.  Don’t miss it this chance…

Check out this Call for Entries from EWNS Art Project (France) for the GeAb vs AbEx exhibit. Selection for this show gets you into an online gallery, and you may additionally have the opportunity to participate in the Paris gallery exhibition.   Take a look…

HEART-BEET
of health

I am convinced that food is the future of health care.  I don’t really fit the stereotype of a patchouli-wearing, dread-locked Mother Earth worshiper.  But as I age, I find myself turning away from traditional medicine and turning toward food remedies.  All I can say is that it is working for me, and it has added a whole new air of importance to the food I already so dearly love.  This next Call wants your take on Mother Earth.  May I suggest beets?

Check out this Call for Entries from ArtAscent (online) for Mother Earth, their 2nd Int’l Art Competition. If you haven’t figured it out, hard copy art publication is being replaced by online art magazines. dreaming?

I was out of town this week, and traveling makes eating out necessary.  But, I was trying to behave so I’ll fit back into my Spring clothes again soon.  At one restaurant, I ordered a California Chicken Salad which included mixed greens, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, blue cheese, candied pecans, croutons, grilled chicken and balsamic vinaigrette.  Mine was sans the blue cheese & pecans, but I am still wondering what made it Californian.  The oranges?  I still don’t know.  Check out this next Call with a name that references place, but it isn’t really the theme.  Interesting…

I talk a lot about food.  I take food for granted.  I have been in some pretty horrible financial situations over the years, but I always knew that there would be a next meal for me and my family.  Not everyone has that luxury.  So, while I blather on about the pros and cons of of reducing dairy in my diet, there ARE people in my community, and yours, that wish whether or not they have dairy was their CHOICE.  This next Call is artistic in nature, related to food, and may be one of the hardest Calls  to get you to follow through.  Please investigate…
