Fried chicken livers remind me of Georgia.  I grew up in Georgia on fried foods and my weight IS under control, my cholesterol good.  Of course, it could be argued that my relatively good health is because I left Georgia at age 14, ha.  There are lots of healthy, wholesome places to eat in the Peach State; my relatives’ homes just aren’t among them.  I don’t think you’ll have the pleasure of scarfing down fried chicken livers at the opening for this next Georgia-based call, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you…

The Exhibit showcases the highest caliber of art and provides a venue by which artists can express their talents and achievements.

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to all US resident artists, 18 years or older.

MEDIA:  Acrylic, Ceramics, Digital, Drawing, Fiber, Glass, Metalsmithing, Mixed Media, Oil, Painting, Pastel, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Watercolor, Other Media.

DEADLINE:  February 11, 2012

2011 Best in Show New Stag by Caroline Montague!NOTIFICATION:  February 25, 2012

ENTRY FEE:  OCAF members: $25 for up to 3 entries.  Non-members: $35 for up to 3 entries.

JUROR:  Miller Zohn has an MA in art history from Florida State University and a BA in Art History from Salem College.  Her previous work was with the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, Reynolda House Museum of American Art, and Albany Museum of Art in Georgia. Miller Zohn served as Curator of Education at the Columbus Museum for six years before moving to her current position in 2007.

AWARDS:  Best in Show – $1000 and the opportunity for a solo exhibit. First Merit 2-D – $500. First Merit 3-D – $500. Six Merit Awards – $200. People’s Choice Award, as voted by the visitors to the exhibition – $100.

SALES:  All work must be for sale. The Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation will deduct 35% commission on sales of artwork sold during the exhibition. No price changes from original application permitted.
