CALL for ENTRIES: Mono No Aware 2014

Learn more about Mono No Aware!MOOOzzarella

I’ve been toying with the idea of making cheese.  I have had a 30+ year love affair with cheese–cow to sheep to goat.  Does anyone think I can convince Jon that we can raise and milk cows, sheep & goats, plus make cheese in addition to the blogging, art, singing & house renovation?  It isn’t what we normally do, but we can learn, right?  I am going to start with a cow’s milk mozzarella. Wish me luck.  This next Call may, or may not, involve media with which YOU are familiar, but I think you should take a look either way…

Check out this Call for Entries for Mono No Aware 2014. This is a really cool way to stretch your creative streak even if film is not your normal media.  Be sure to investigate this one…

start

I am moving temporarily.   In addition to being musicians, my husband and I renovate houses for resale; however, we haven’t owned our own home in about 10 years.  We have finally decided to buy or build.  But in the meantime, our current rental has turned into a haven for mold & mildew.  So, we’re starting fresh in a new, smaller house (& smaller kitchen).  It would be so much easier if someone would just find and renovate a house for me for free, eh?  I am always the dreamer.  But, this next Call really IS FREE, and it isn’t a dream.  This isn’t just for filmmakers…

Film & video have become easily accessible. One can watch content on a website, television, a home projector, or even a cell phone. For some artists and filmmakers those vehicles are copies of the original artwork, each one degraded by its format. MNA believes there is a magic in seeing the film projected as a print. There is a presence a poet has reading his/her own writing. There is a feeling that resonates in your chest when seeing a band live. For these reasons MNA encourages live music, performance and audio to expand the cinematic experience beyond the screen. MNA asks that in the spirit of the festival you not video or create copies of your performance. Some participants have gone as far as to destroy the work after its first run at the event.

creativity

In the ongoing saga of kitchen creativity, my most recent attempt at mint chocolate chip went a little off course.  Who new 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract would be too much in 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream.  Just trust me on this one.  I suppose this was a drawback to complete kitchen freedom, ha.  May this next Call for creative freedom be more successful for you than my mint ice cream experiment.  It isn’t just for filmmakers…

stuffing

I love  herbs that are not as they seem–lime basil, chocolate mint, and pineapple sage.  I’m planting the herbs in my garden this past weekend, and I am dazzled by the choices at my local farmer’s market.  Pineapple sage may be my favorite find.  Thanksgiving stuffing will never be the same again.  This next call appears to be a call for filmmakers, but things are not always what they seem.  Investigate…

I appreciate a mix of the unexpected with a tried and true, old school favorite. I wouldn’t watch a movie without popcorn, but a dusting of wasabi powder definitely helps keep me away through the parts that seem never ending. I suspect the result of this next Call will NOT require wasabi. Take a look…
