I’m amazed by the trivial information I learn from the paper placemats at my favorite Chinese restaurant. I know the ins and outs of the Chinese Calendar. I know I was born in the Year of the Rat. And now that they have incorporated a local map for visitors to the area, I now know where all the trolley stops are located and where I can park for free. Never discount the importance of a map…or a placemat. This next Call is all about the map, not the placemat…

CALL for ENTRIES:
Map It
Are you a map lover? Do you love to incorporate maps / globes / map concepts in your artwork creations? If so, then this is the “Map It” theme juried exhibit for you….
This will be both an online and a gallery exhibit.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to artists 18+ residing in the US
MEDIA: Works may be executed in any medium, but it must show/contain a map of something in some form.
DEADLINE: July 1, 2013
NOTIFICATION: July 9, 2013
ENTRY FEE: $25 for up to 2, $5 ea. add’l up to 6 max.
JUROR: Barbara Brown began her artistic sojourn many years ago while working with textiles. This eventually became a bridge to her career as a paper and book artist. Barbara has been an artist member of WSG Gallery since 2004 and curates Beyond Words: A Celebration of Book Arts each year. She has had work in book shows around the country and in special collections at the University of Michigan Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library, the University of Michigan School of Art and Design Library, and the Library of Michigan in Lansing.
AWARDS: 1st Place $800, 2nd Place $600, 3rd Place $400 & Honorable Mentions
SALES: The gallery will receive a 30% commission on all sales. This will also be an online art exhibit, both to promote the artists and to promote art sales.
