CALL for ENTRIES: Create! Winter 2019

Learn more about the Winter 2019 Edition from Create! Magazine

COLD complication

As winter approaches, I am more & more distracted.  I buy a handful of pantry items for single recipes.  For example, I use canned cream-style corn in one indulgent corn pudding recipe and buttermilk only in cornbread.  But, the problem arises because they look like similar items in the cupboard –anything canned or my regular milk.  You only have to put buttermilk on one bowl of cereal to not want to make that mistake again.  My solution? Organization. A simple letter or two scrawled on the container top has stopped me from wasting time and food over and over again.  This next Call wants to see your work for their Winter Edition.  Be organized; enter early…

CALL for ENTRIES: P/N 33

Learn more about Positive Negative 33 from the Slocumb Galleries at ETSU!

There are benefits to only having to feed two people again.  It is cheaper, and our menu is more diverse without a teenage palate with which to contend.  But it has also been an adjustment.  We eat a lot of leftovers because I still haven’t completely adjusted to smaller portion sizes. (Tip: One zucchini per person.)  Pros & cons, as always.  This next Call wants your positives and negatives.  Take a look…

MISSING YOU

Anniversary dinners with my husband used to involve picnics on the livingroom floor with mussels steamed over white wine, a beautiful Caesar salad and a bad movie.  With the recent seafood allergy development, we’ve substituted antipasta for the seafood…because my anniversary would lose its sparkle if it killed my husband.  We are headed toward our 13th anniversary next weekend, but this next call is in celebration of a 20th anniversary… reason to celebrate, eh?
