ENTRY FEE: $30 up to 5, $6 ea add’l

JUROR: Lisa M. Robinson is a fine art photographer whose first book, Snowbound, was published by Kehrer Verlag (2007) and has received numerous awards. Snowbound has been exhibited internationally and is in many collections. Lisa graduated from Columbia & received her MFA from SCAD. She is represented by Klompching in NY & Etherton in Tucson.

Ken Rosenthal’s artwork is represented by a number of galleries, including Klompching in NY & Etherton in Tucson. His photographs are in many public & private collections. Rosenthal’s 1st publication, Photographs 2001-2009, was released October 2011.

AWARDS: 45 to 50 images will be selected for exhibition and a Blurb full color catalogue. Awards are $325 for Juror’s Award, $250 and an exhibition catalogue for Director’s Award, 5 Honorable Mentions each receiving an exhibition catalogue & $100 for Visitors’ Choice Award.

SALES: A Smith Gallery will retain 40% commission out of the sales price.

My mother believes I am obsessed with food & cooking. She finds it laughable that I have a bowl specific to whipping cream. “Obsessed” is a strong word, possibly accurate, but definitely strong. I do not own a single bowl to which I am well enough attached that I want to be buried with it like Mimbres bowls which have been found covering the face of the interred. Wear marks on the insides of those bowls show they were actually used for more than burial items. That just makes me more respectful of my pottery bowls–lest it ends up covering my face for all of eternity. Hmm. This next Call wants to see how YOU might be inspired by Mimbres potters. Neo-Mimbreño

NEO-MIMBREÑO 2014 is a juried fine art exhibition of contemporary works influenced or inspired by designs of the ancient Mimbres potters of the Southwest. Artists are especially encouraged to creatively reinterpret, personalize, or carry the Mimbreño vision into new formats and media.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists

MEDIA: Open to works in all media, including 2-D and 3-D, video art, mixed-media presentations, and installations

DEADLINE: June 16, 2014

NOTIFICATION: July 1, 2014

ENTRY FEE: $30 for 1, $5 ea add’l

JUROR: Patricia L. Crown has been on the faculty at the University of New Mexico since 1993, where she is a Distinguished Professor of Anthropology. Dr. Crown has conducted field investigations in the Ancestral Pueblo, Mogollon, and Hohokam areas of the American Southwest; she recently directed the analysis of artifacts from the trash mounds at Pueblo Bonito, Chaco Canyon.

AWARDS: $600: 1st Place, $300: 2nd Place, $100: 3rd Place & $500: President’s Award

SALES: Artists are asked to donate 25% to the Silver City CLAY Festival
