What food can you buy for one U.S. dollar? The answer is “it depends on where you are”. Where I live, one dollar will buy you nearly 2lbs of bananas, canned beans (even organic), dried beans, yogurt & one or pieces of a lot of tree fruits like apples, oranges or pears. Make your own healthy dollar menu. This next Call has another suggestion for how to use a one dollar bill. Challenge accepted.

“Artists are encouraged to use their creative disciplines to paint, draw or cut on a one dollar bill for an exhibit that will merge your art style with the common thread of a dollar as your canvas or collaborator. We encourage artists from all disciplines—graffiti, street art, abstract expressionist, hyper realism, paper cutting, screen printing, etc.—to be a part of this eclectic and modern exhibit.” –JF Gallery

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists

MEDIA: Open to all media that can be contained within the confines of an actual U.S. one dollar bill.

DEADLINE: October 11, 2018

NOTIFICATION: October 15, 2018

ENTRY FEE: $38 per entry

SALES: All pieces will be for sale on opening night for $250 each, and a 30% commission will be retained by JF Gallery.

I was born in Florida –Clearwater, to be exact. My time there as a child was shortlived, a mere 5 years. But, as an adult, I’ve had great reason to travel the width & breadth of the state. I’ve eaten every imaginable cuisine in Florida, and I’ve written of many of them for you. But the best Cuban food I’ve ever eaten was in West Palm Beach –no kidding. This next Call hails from the same local and promises to offer a great opportunity in an excellent venue. Investigate for yourself…

It has been suggested that I seek professional help for my food obsession. However, like any well-seasoned food addict, I prefer to think of myself as food-educated or food-curious, not just food-obsessed. I’m certain a psychoanalyst could figuratively feast on my many stufffed, food-related issues. Where’s the couch? (Speaking of couches, check out the cake couch entitled “You Can’t Have Your Cake and Eat It Too”, the chocolate couch was created by Argentinian artist Leandro Erlich for an art-exhibit appropriately named “Let Them Eat Art”.) Art & Psyche

The exhibit will be held September 30 – October 29, 2011 and is open to any artist submitting original works of art in a wide range of media and genre depicting or representing the various Psychoanalytic Approaches to Art. The theme of Art & Psyche may be depicted in traditional or non-traditional formats.

ELIGIBILITY:
Open to all artists.

MEDIA:
Open to all media.

DEADLINE: August 31, 2011. *Editor’s note: The Prospectus says August 31st; however, I have seen it elsewhere published as September 15th. You might want to check with the gallery if you’re running behind schedule.

ENTRY FEE: First Entry $25.00, 2 Entries $35.00, and 3 Entries $40.00 USD.
