One of the things I miss most about being able to shop at the Farmer’s Market or local orchard during the winter is the ability to get wax-free fruit. When I see a waxed apple, I have to assume it is really old. Yes, fruit is waxed to make it “pretty” for consumers, but it is also done to seal in moisture and preserve “weight” for as much as a year. Pick the ugly fruit, please. 8th Annual
Encaustic Invitational
Conrad Wilde Gallery supports emerging and established artists, collectors, and public audiences by providing a venue for the access, celebration, and advancement of contemporary art.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists
MEDIA: All 2D and 3D work that is hot wax-based is eligible. The gallery features a collection of contemporary paintings, sculpture and works on paper with a curatorial emphasis on both abstraction and innovative techniques. Work outside of this niche will be considered on a more limited basis.
DEADLINE: January 4, 2013
NOTIFICATION: January 31, 2013
