Mayhaw jelly is the gift that keeps giving. I appreciate receiving foods from all over the U.S., but often those foods aren’t necessarily native to an area — just popular there. But, the mayhaw berry is native to the wetlands, so every time I receive a Louisiana batch, I am transported back to a place I love. You can keep the beignets; just pass the jelly. ELIGIBILITY: Open to all US artists 18+
MEDIA: Open to all media
DEADLINE: January 18, 2016 (online entries) or January 11 for postmarks
NOTIFICATION: February 4, 2016
ENTRY FEE: $20 for 2, $10 ea. add’l (5 max.)
JUROR: Holly E. Hughes, Godin-Spaulding Curator, Albright-Knox Art Gallery
AWARDS: Best in Show is $1,000, and total awards are $3,200.00. The People’s Choice Award is $200.00 and will be voted on by visitors throughout the run of the exhibition. Best Packed: This award will honor the artist who packs their art in the most professional manner. The award is $100. “No packing peanuts, feedbags, loose papers as packing materials, no cigarette butts, etc. These types of things will disqualify you! This prize will be decided by the Masur Museum staff.” I ♥ this!
