My efforts to downsize my kitchen continue.  I’ve always been partial to white dishes, so color doesn’t help.  I shy away from single use gadgets or trendy patterns.  So, I’m left with glass containers, stainless bowls & the occasional wooden spoon. You would think that simplicity would lend a primitive look, but in fact, it makes me keenly aware of the man-made nature of each item, be it molded, cast or hand-formed.  This next Call wants to see YOUR built environment.  This is a wide ranging theme.  Enjoy…

THEME:  Elements of the built environment – structures built by humans, including but not limited to historic and modern buildings and industrial sites – can establish a sense of place in a community, and represent the tone of a culture.

DEADLINE:  January 15, 2017 (midnight MCT)

NOTIFICATION:  January 30, 2017

ENTRY FEE:  None

AWARDS:  Photos from eligible submissions will be selected for a group exhibition in February 2017, displayed on ThePassporte.com & highlighted through social media.

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to all artists

MEDIA:  Open to all media

DEADLINE:  January 15, 2017

NOTIFICATION:  January 30, 2017: Short listed notices & delivery instructions.  February 6, 2017: Results of final round of judging and award notices

ENTRY FEE:  None.  Limit 2 entries.

JUDGING:  The panel of judges will review entries; approx. 35 artists will be short listed. Short listed works will be delivered to the corporate offices (Toronto), using reputable courier firms, the cost of which will be borne by the company.

AWARDS:  $6,000 USD for 1st prize, $2,500 USD for 2d prize and $1,500 USD for 3rd prize. An add’l fund has been established to acquire more work from the shortlisted finalists, which will then become part of the permanent collection.

SALES:  The listed value for the artworks can only be up to $1,500 USD in order to accommodate possible acquisition by Yamana Gold. Any work with a registered value higher than $1,500 USD will not be accepted.  The entrant must specify the “catalogue selling price” in the event the corporation wishes to acquire the artwork; shipping & insurance costs will be borne by the company.
