I plead guilty to taking my eating utensils and dishes for granted. Because of my love for the art of plating food, I’ve always owned solid white functional dishware. My mother is a “collector” of flatware and hasn’t allowed me to pick my own, EVER. It is bestowed upon me on occasion without request or explanation. We all have our burdens, ha.

Now I am married to a commercial production potter (120+ pots a day & NOT pictured here), and suddenly the world of dishware is my oyster. Did you know you need differently sized and shaped bowls for salad, cereal & pasta? As I said, we all have our burdens, ha. I love eating out of the bowls my husband has thrown. Every once in a while he comes home with a “one off” just for me because he thought it looked like it was “meant for me”. *swoon* I’ve been trying to convince him to enter this show because I love this venue. It isn’t restricted to a literal interpretation, so be sure to investigate this opportunity.

It matters little how well you cook if you have missing ingredients. I’m addicted to simple homemade spring rolls; fresh produce transforms into crispy little treasures. Her art reviews and cultural commentary have been featured in Hyperallergic, a Brooklyn-based digital arts publication, and she serves as Art Editor for Posit, a journal of literature and art.

Over the years she has shared her passion for sculpture with her students. Williams has received a number of grants and awards through the years, including a Fulbright Hays grant to study in Italy. Williams was awarded her M.F.A. in Sculpture from Washington University in Saint Louis, MO.

AWARDS: Juror’s Awards will be named by the juror and announced at the Awards Reception on Sunday, November 12, 2017. These are cash awards for high-quality work. She serves as a visiting critic at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts/Tufts and Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

I am currently obsessed with the little 4-cup mixing bowls with a pour spout. I own one in stainless steel, and it is my “go to” for small jobs like dressings, dips & marinades. Kozlowski has a Masters with Honors in museum studies through the School of Human Evolution & Social Change at AZ State University & a BFA in studio art from FL Atlantic University.

AWARDS: The Greater Denton Arts Council will provide Juror Awards in the amounts of $1000, $750, $500 & $250. Winners will be determined by the juror, on site, after the accepted works are received at the Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts.
