As Spring heads toward Summer, my house is in full-on busy mode. With a teenager, 3+ business endeavors and a small-scale entertainment career, sometimes I just crave the opportunity to cook a full meal. But in the meantime, I am trying to figure out how to make crock-pot meals feel fresh & Spring-like instead of cozy, warm winter stock. Wish me luck because all I’ve come up with is chicken soup. ENTRY FEE: The application fee is $36 and if you apply to both residencies (artist and writer), there is a $12 discount. Artists who are re-applying also qualify for a $12 discount. Only one discount will apply.

JURORS: Jeannine Falino, Juror for Visual Arts, is Adjunct Curator at the Museum of Arts and Design in NYC and is a paintings consultant at the Museum of the City of NY. She was previously Curator of American Decorative Arts and Sculpture at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Jeannine has published and lectured widely on American art, especially decorative arts & contemporary craft, and teaches the history of American ceramics at the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI.
Alice Fogel, Juror for Writers and Musicians, is the State Poet Laureate of New Hampshire (USA) 2014 – 2019 and recent winner of the Nicholas Shaffner Award for Music in Literature. Alice is the author of Strange Terrain: A Poetry Handbook for the Reluctant Reader (Hobblebush Books, 2009). Alice teaches creative writing and poetry at Keene State College, Keene, NH & Landmark College, Putney, VT.
AWARDS: This is a free one-month residency. Your residency offers free WiFi, maid service, $1,000 pesos food stipend & utilities. You will are responsible for laundry, transportation, entertainment & add’l food. International calls can be made via skype.
You are responsible for your travel to and from the Guadalajara International airport, which is just 25 minutes from Chapala.
