the table

My dining room table is round.  This makes placemats hard to find because the corners prevent the placemat from getting close enough to the edge.  I could buy some ugly plastic ones and trim them, but I want the same beautiful fibers like silk with embroidery or elegant bamboo.  And then I saw them, placements made specifically for round tables.  This has made my month, thank-you-very-much.  This next Call is all about fibers.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries for Fantastic Fibers 2013 hosted by the Yeiser Art Center (Paducah, KY), Paducah’s Gateway to the Arts.  This is show really is fantastic, and you can enter for as little as $12.  This is a gem for fiber artists…

I am guilty of making the occasional sauce to cover up an over-cooked piece of meat. Yes, I know that any meat that NEEDS sauce shouldn’t be served, but it happens.  However, the best things to eat are usually at their prime when featured naked.  The pluot is a perfect example.  It is a cross between a plum and an apricot. They are the blood orange of the plum world according to my hubby and best served nekkid.  This next call also wants to see the naked truth of it all.  Investigate…

REMINDER:

EAT your
HEART out!

While watching a TV show about how salami is made, my son announced that eating the organs of an animal is wrong. However, when I explained all the things that his new belief would eliminate from his menu, he then asked, “Do they at least WASH the intestines first?” Hehehe. These days I prefer my animal organs in the form of chicken pate, but I will have to start keeping the ingredient list to myself, apparently. This next Call for Entries involves a different sort of heart all together. This could be an excellent opportunity…

Have I mentioned my new obsession with dried fruit enough yet? Well, I just found another reason to love it–approximately twice the fiber.  Yep.  Fiber is important for all those reason you don’t want to talk about when you’re discussing yummy food, but it is also a key factor in management of weight and cholesterol management.  Dry your fruit at home, and then you get to control the additives and chemicals.  Allergic to sulfites?  Use pineapple juice instead.  Yum.  This next call is all about the fiber.  Investigate…

Merlot sings to me.  But the next morning, I will harm anyone attempting to sing to me.  I am allergic to the tannins after years of enjoying the taste of an earthy glass at art openings.  Now, just one glass makes me feel like I’ve been hit by a bus.  I still have a glass occasionally and deal with the consequences.  This next Call wants to see how you deal with the consequences.  Fabulous…
