My kid came home from college for the weekend. At school, he has access to everything from a wok station to carving board and, what I suspect is a seldom-used, salad bar. I asked him if he wanted anything special for dinner, and his answer was “asparagus”. When pushed for a reason, he said, “It doesn’t taste the same anywhere else.” I suppose family is like that, nothing special to most of the world, but uniquely special to each of us –for better or worse.
