CALL for ENTRIES: Pets 2

Learn more about the Pets 2 Exhibit from art-competition.net!tricky TREATS

My dog only eats dog treats at home.  When she’s at the dog sitter’s house, she will only take cat treats.  I don’t get it.  I once had a cat that would only limp when I watched her.  How odd to think that our perceived expectations alter even the behavior of our furry family.  This next Call wants to know about your favorite animal friends.  An opportunity with a little heart…

what a peach APRICOT

I often feel indignant about crap people are willing to eat.  Yes, it’s a little judge-y.  But, there are so many people worldwide without the access to healthy food, so I find myself impatient when people take it for granted.  But, I digress.  My husband recently enjoyed making fun of the newly-acquired fact that the only apricots I have ever eaten have been dried or a part of a sauce or jam.  My husband insisted we buy a fresh apricot, and, apparently, it is on the menu as a part of my breakfast in the morning. I’m not opposed; it just hasn’t ever been a thing.  There is a first for everything, right? This Call is a first for this brand new gallery.  Investigate this artist-run space…

Everywhere I go there are pumpkins.  Big orange jack-o-lantern-style pumpkins are everywhere –shipped in from farms across the state.  Funny enough, while my neighbors (along with most of the country) are obsessed with pumpkin-flavored everything, there are almost NO pumpkins meant for cooking (sugar pumpkins) to be found in grocery stores.  Trust me, you don’t want to make a pie out of a carving pumpkin.  Ick.  This next Call wants to know about your landscape, seascape, etc.  Your “scape” doesn’t have to be orange, BTW…

I am trying to curb my collecting of all things culinary.  I moved to a smaller house to purposefully downsize in preparation for building a smaller sustainable green home in which I hope to live the rest of my life.  Passing up vintage deviled egg plates and a new pate knife pattern has reminded me that there is a reward to self restraint.  One of the rewards…I can afford to collect more art, ha. This next Call is really ALL about the collectors.  Here’s hoping they collect YOUR art…

Here’s an interesting Call for Entries from the Sylvia White Gallery (Ventura, CA) for the 2014 Collectors’ Choice.  This could be your last chance to show in this space without being one of their represented artists. Investigate for your self…

Learn more about the Sylvia White Gallery!JURORS: Each art collector may select one or more pieces by artists that are not currently represented in their private collection. Collectors’ names will be kept anonymous until the opening reception. Editor’s Note: My assumption is these are collectors that purchase work in the Sylvia White Gallery. Because they are anonymous, the best recommendation I have for research is to spend some time investigate the artists the gallery represents, since in theory, it is their work these collectors are purchasing–at least in part.

AWARDS: Selected artists will participate in 2014 Collector’s Choice exhibit April 23rd to May 24th, 2014 at Sylvia White Gallery.
