SPACE

Sometimes you just need space–not just physical space, but mental space.  I have “worked from home” for a long time; however, I still have to have a place to work–space meant for creation.  I need a kitchen, a studio, and office.  If you need space to work and create, this might just be the space for you…

Check out this Call for Entries from Gallery Aferro (Newark, NJ) for 2013-2014 Residency.  If you are looking for 6 months of space & collaboration to develop a show or project, this could be the one for you.  Great opportunity…

CALL for ENTRIES: Myths & Legends

butt

I want to smack every pert, ponytail-wearing, 20-something that looks at me with pity when they see 2 lbs. of butter in my shopping cart.  I can read their calorie-counting little minds, “Fat makes you fat; no wonder you’ve got a case of the pudgies.”  Really?  Does anyone really still believe the myth that fat makes you fat?  My pudge is due to eating more than I move. End of story.  I’ll take my butter over your chemical-laden margarine any day, Ms. Ponytail.  Explore your own myths with this next Call.  Bring on the butter…

Check out this Call for Entries from Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center (Solomons, MD) for Myths & Legends.  This show has a fairly low entry fee and a great theme to explore.  Take a look…

Myths & Legends

This exhibit celebrates works of art that bring to life fantastical myths, legends, fables, folktales, fairy tales, and the like. Around the world, from prehistoric times to the present, artists have been part of the story-telling process, giving shape and form to fantastical stories of supernatural beings, great heroes and heroines, cautionary tales, magical creatures, and more. In ancient times, artists commonly rendered images of these stories on walls, pottery, statuary, tapestries, and paintings. In more recent times, books, graphic novels, movies, apps, and games have expanded the way we experience these stories. No matter the time period, the artist becomes the story-teller and shares their spectacular vision through their art.

ELIGIBILITY: The exhibition is open to artists age 18 and older working in the U.S.
