BAKERY STAR

I love FoodTV as much as the next person, but cooking shows just frustrate me.  General shows that show me new cooking techniques or that introduce new foods are fantastic.  But, the idea that someone can learn to bake something that requires measuring and weighing from watching a food show is a little crazy.  Who can write that down and still pay attention.  Am I going to their website later to get the recipe that may or may not actually be there?  Not.  Am I going to DVR and re-watch later?  Not.  This next Call is a far better use of video.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from Raritan Valley Community College (Branchburg, NJ) for The Video Show.  If you’ve ever wanted to dabble in video or interactive media installations, here’s your chance.  There’s no entry fee…

SHOES

You know I love food.  You know I love art.  My third passion is shoes.  I cannot divulge the number of pairs I own out of sheer embarrassment, but trust me, it is a lot.  Shoe selection had a little something to do with why I abandoned my pursuit of becoming a chef.  If I had to wear clogs everyday, even adorable orange ones, I might just die of boredom.  You might need a shoebox for this next Call.  You can’t have mine…

Check out this great Call for Entries from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) for Shoebox, an international small sculpture exhibition.  There’s a price break if you enter early, so don’t delay…
