I had to throw out everything in my fridge & freezer Sunday.  Due to the wildfire, my house was without power for a week.  My groceries stewed.  It wasn’t pretty.  But, in my effort to find a silver lining, I will admit that a clean refrigerator is liberating.  Now it is slowing filling with mustard greens, pickled beets & craft beer against a stark white background.  It is a whole new energy like this new Call.  An art publication opportunity…

MEDIA:   Open to still media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital, prints, fiber art, collage, etc.

THEME: Emotion & Energy of Color 4  “…the visual narrative presents the artist’s unique interpretation of a subject that is communicated through the emotion & energy of color, that is, how colors define your piece as an interpretation and reflection of the world and your surroundings, dreams, passions & perhaps spirituality… representational to abstract.”

DEADLINE: December 14, 2016

NOTIFICATION:  January 7, 2017

ENTRY FEE: $20 first image, $10 ea. add’l

AWARDS:  First place $500 cash + $5000 marketing; 2nd place $400 Cash + $1500 marketing; 3rd Place $300 cash; 4th Place $200 Cash; 5th Place $100 Cash; 6th Place $75 Cash, 7th Place $50 Cash. Holiday meals at our house are inevitably eaten around a floral centerpiece, or more commonly, a potted plant.  But, for love of our dogs, there hasn’t been a poinsettia in our home for a couple of decades.  Instead, we keep a Christmas cactus or two year round.  The only rule of thumb is to treat them badly.  My mother didn’t water hers for a year, left it on the front porch during multiple early cold snaps.  She pulled it in  & watered it mid-October, and it was gorgeous just in time for Thanksgiving.  So, as a rule, don’t eat your floral holiday centerpieces, but a Christmas cactus might protect your pets if they get the munchies.  This next Call is looking for your perspective on flowers this winter.  Take a look…
