My food preferences have transformed.  Years ago, I appreciated more complex, layers of flavor, intrigued by how accurately, or not, I could dissect the ingredients of a sauce.  Now a beautiful polenta makes my day –organic, hand-ground corn, homemade chicken stock & aged Parmesan. ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists

MEDIA: Open to all visual media, including but not limited to drawing, painting, conceptual, installation, prints, sculpture, glass, new media, mixed media, photography & video. (no dance or performance at this time)

DEADLINE:  March 31, 2016

ENTRY FEE:  $25 for up to 5

AWARDS: If selected as the winner, the award recipient must exchange one of their original works or smaller series of original works for inclusion into a collection, in return for the award. Work considered by the artist as of equal value, and available for acquisition can be negotiated upon receipt of the award. Shipping costs will be paid by workingartist.org.

I used to be the queen of the hand cut garnish and/or decorative knife skills.  I think tournée-cut potatoes simply taste better; I do.  But, my recent cooking laziness has forced me to return to a more fresh-cut approach, like carambola (star fruit).  I’ve looked at them decoratively for so many years, I’d forgotten how delicious they really are.  I have not forgotten how delicious the magazine hosting this next Call is however.  I’m thrilled to have them as a sponsor, and I wash bowled over when I received my last hard copy.  Simply beautiful (and tasty)…
