My Aunt Maggie B. loved marzipan. We would attempt to craft our own from honey, powdered sugar and finely ground almonds & foregoing the additional almond extract. The year I spent with her trying to form our Play-Doh-like lumps into little fruit and vegetable shapes taught me that food color can be derived from real food, not just a jar, that gold and silver are edible in small amounts, and that treats well-labored taste better.
