Not every food fad is a good one.  I am still waiting for jalapeno poppers and chicken fingers to go away.  But, if farm to table/plate is a fad, I hope it lasts forever.  I am so inspired by how much better the options are out there.  And if you happen across a town that already prides itself on food, well then you’re in for  a food fantasy.  This next Call explores the food to plate issue in a beautiful format.  Take a look…

Don’t Take Pictures exists to showcase the work of emerging photographers. In addition to publishing photographers in print & online in their monthly columns, they are now publishing online quarterly exhibitions.

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to all artists

MEDIA:  Photography

DEADLINE:  August 11, 2014

ENTRY FEE:  None

AWARDS:  Inclusion in the upcoming food photography exhibition.  The exhibit will be published online from August 23 – November 23.

INGREDIENTS

My true goal with food is the same with art: to see you be brave.  But being brave has to be based on knowledge, not whim.  This is true of both food AND art.  I would never have you enter a show without doing at least some preliminary research into the venue, gallery, organization or publication.  So I want to encourage you never to let a food enter your mouth without a little preliminary research into ingredients or origin.  Do me a favor, if I can’t get you to quit eating food with labels, at least read the label.  There are scary things hidden in lots of foods.
