CALL for ENTRIES: Circus of Thought

Learn more from the Raebec Gallery!BUGGING

I’ve become a casual fan of Naked & Afraid (the TV show).  When flipping through the channels, I keep tripping across the reruns.  For those of you non-watchers.  Two people (1 man, 1 woman) that have never met who are dropped in a remote location for 21 days with nothing–not even clothes. I am dumbfounded by what they will eat.  If you’re hungry enough, I supposes giant crickets (maybe it was a grasshopper) look delicious.  Bizarre.  Here’s a Call for all things bizarre.  Maybe even crickets…

Check out this Call for Entries from Raebec Gallery (online) for Circus of Thought.  This could serve as great art publication & web back links to help increase your site traffic.  If this isn’t the right theme for you, stay tuned for future themes.  Investigate…

POTATOES

While traveling recently, I was forced to choose between two “American” restaurants as my only options.  According to these menus, American fare is defined as steak, baked potatoes, boiled vegetables, hamburgers & fries.  I am puzzled by that summation.  How does a country so rich with ethnic variety get distilled down to steak and potatoes?  This next Call wants your ideas on your origin from you perspective; food could be an interesting viewpoint.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from Crossing Art (Flushing, NY) for The View Over Here, an international exhibit of international views of individual origin.  $30 entry for up to 10 images, and it is open to ALL MEDIA.  This is a great theme…

Squash is yellow in my house. If I ask, “do you want squash with dinner”, I mean the yellow, long-neck variety of summer squash. If I want acorn, spaghetti or zucchini squash I will ask for it. BEANS?

My mother cans green beans for me every year, and when I arrive to pick them up for winter back stock, her questions is always, “Greens or beans?”  Apparently toward the end of the canning batch, the last few jars have an excess of beans from the ones that fell out of the greens while cooking.  My mother thinks those little beans are the star of the show, while I’ll take the greens every time.  If your your smallest art could be the star of the show, this next Call just might be for you.  Take a look…

Bold. Talented. Demanding. Idolized.

Whether they are known for their powerhouse vocals and intoxicating talent or their over-the-top, won’t-stop, vogue-til-you-drop life and style, a true diva is a muse to the masses. With public response shifting between veneration and vilification, divas captivate, terrify and inspire. They unapologetically demand devotion while remaining utterly unapproachable, keeping the world at a measured distance.

Non-Fiction Gallery wants to bring the celebrity divine within reach.  Rather than choosing the more obvious route of “large persona, larger artwork,” the gallery’s next juried show will feature the world’s favorite superstars on a pocket-sized scale.  Show them your smallest works inspired by the biggest and boldest doyennes.

As I become more food wise, I also become more food wary.  Even proven combinations like chocolate & peanut butter or mozzarella & balsamic become tiresome.  And as I get bored, I start branching out and trying foods together just out of curiosity.  Watermelon with olive oil & basil is delightful, by the way.  That combination is as good as the combination award for this next call.  Take a look…

Chia seeds are fascinating. I have started using them to make raw, small-batch refrigerator jam from overripe fruit.  Yum.  The seeds are hydrophilic, absorbing up to 12 times their weight in liquid when soaked.
