CALL for ENTRIES: Fresh Paint Mag

Learn more from Fresh Paint Magazine!MORE please

I seek out Greek food.  I don’t have access to Greek food at home, except my husband’s exceptional version of Moussaka, so I’m always on the hunt.  I have noticed a rather odd phenomenon–Greek food crossed with diner culture.  I keep seeing menu after menu with both platters of fries AND bowls of Avgolemono.  Sometimes it is great to expect to get one thing but find yourself with options when you take a closer look.  I suppose this next Call is exactly like that.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from Fresh Paint Magazine (online) for Juried July 2015.  This mag is delicious to see & hold. We are proud to have them as sponsors & this call is open to more than PAINTING

My son is learning to cook.  More accurately, my husband & I are forcing our son to cook dinner once per week.  He has shown no really interest in producing meals–only eating them.  So, we are not giving him an option.  My concern is that if he doesn’t learn how, he’ll be forced to eat commercially-processed crap his entire life.  He doesn’t like cooking.  Doing anything solo the first time is scary, but my kiddo has turned it into a pressure-cooked affair.  Let’s hope it gets easier.  This next Call is YOUR chance to do art solo.  Don’t stress, just submit a proposal…

Check out this great Call for Entries from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) for Exhibition Opportunities at the Todd Art Gallery (Murfreesboro, TN).  A great place for YOUR solo show

There aren’t really any naturally-occurring blue foods–of which I am aware.  But maybe that is why I’m not a fan of color blue, with the exceptions of navy (almost purple) & turquoise (high green only).  Blue foods scream, “Plastic” every time I see them–from icing on cakes to the blue tongues of toddlers eating shaved ice.  I know; my food quirks never end.  This next Call is just the perfect shade away from blue.  Take a look…

BANANAS

I watched soap operas before I could talk.  More accurately, my mother used to put me in my high chair and turn on The Doctors while she enjoyed her lunch.  One day it came to an abrupt stop.  Apparently engrossed in an overly-dramatic subplot, my mother neglected to notice I had fallen asleep and face-planted in my peanut-butter-topped-bananas.  Since then, anytime my mother even see a commercial for a soap opera, the portrait of me covered in pb&b conjures guilt.  This next Call wants your portraits; the food is optional.  Love this…

FOR LOVING YOU

Something borrowed, something new; something green, something like glue.  If I am married to food, the heroes & villians in our relationship are well-defined.  Despite my best efforts, potatoes continue to fight against me in the form of chips, fries & luscious, comforting soup.  They aren’t inherently evil, but they do have a tendency to lean toward the dark side of gluttony for me.  The heroes, conversely, tend to be green & roasted–fresh Brussels sprouts, snap beans & crowns of broccoli.  As I continue to fight the good fight, here’s a great Call that will allow you to fight your own battles.  LOVE this venue…
