Flow Art Space in Minneapolis, MN announces an open call for submissions for shows for the first half of 2014. Artists will be considered for possible inclusion in group shows and/or chosen as a featured artist.

ELIGIBILITY: US artists at least 18 are welcome to submit.

MEDIA: 2D and 3D media and all subject matter will be considered, including but not limited to drawing, painting, photography, book art, printmaking, sculpture, fiber, glass, encaustic, ceramics, mixed media, wood, digital art, video, and installation.

I am moving temporarily. In addition to being musicians, my husband and I renovate houses for resale; however, we haven’t owned our own home in about 10 years. We have finally decided to buy or build. But in the meantime, our current rental has turned into a haven for mold & mildew. So, we’re starting fresh in a new, smaller house (& smaller kitchen). Mono No Aware

Film & video have become easily accessible. One can watch content on a website, television, a home projector, or even a cell phone. For some artists and filmmakers those vehicles are copies of the original artwork, each one degraded by its format. MNA believes there is a magic in seeing the film projected as a print. There is a presence a poet has reading his/her own writing. There is a feeling that resonates in your chest when seeing a band live. For these reasons MNA encourages live music, performance and audio to expand the cinematic experience beyond the screen. MNA asks that in the spirit of the festival you not video or create copies of your performance. Some participants have gone as far as to destroy the work after its first run at the event.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists

MEDIA: Contemporary art that incorporates Super 8mm, 16mm, 35mm or altered light projections as part of a sculpture, installation, dance, or expanded cinema performance. Submissions including digital projections will not be considered (i.e. HDcam, DigiBETA, DVcam, DVD) all moving images should be from an analog source.

But, the idea that someone can learn to bake something that requires measuring and weighing from watching a food show is a little crazy. Who can write that down and still pay attention. Lydia Grey is a video/performance artist and curator teaching Video at RVCC. Her work has been shown at CCA Santa Fe, Mass Art Film Society, City Without Walls, Galex, Soho 20, The Knitting Factory, and more.

John Harford is a fine arts photographer and musician living in Bucks County, PA. Currently he teaches media and design courses at Raritan Valley Community College and coordinates the Graphic Design and Video programs.

Kelly Oliver is an adjunct video instructor and multimedia specialist at RVCC. Her video work has been shown both nationally and internationally at venues such as The New York Underground Film Festival, RISD Museum of Art, etc.

Ann Tsubota is a ceramic artist whose work includes limited edition functional work to sculptural ceramics. She is a Full Professor of Art at RVCC where she has been head of the ceramics program since 1976. She is currently chairperson of the Visual and Performing Arts Department.

I live in a town with an approximate population of 3,500. Yes, you read that correctly. Luckily we play host to another 10,000 to 100,000 visitors on any given day. That increase in population warrants a few extra convenience, but we still have only one zip code and only one grocery store. The exhibition space is a raw Warehouse space, 8000 square feet of open space (no columns), cement floors, 12 foot brick walls, with much a domed ceiling that begins at 17 feet high and rises to at least 25 feet high. JUROR/CURATOR: Lisa Rockford received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Lisa is an Assistant Professor at Broward College, a resident artist at Sailboat Bend artist Lofts, and founding member 1310 Gallery. Lisa began curating Contemporary art exhibitions in her position as Art Services Director of the Dittmar Gallery at Northwestern University in 2000.

Lisa was awarded the Innovative Collaborative Grant through Funding Arts Broward in 2011 for her Solo show at the Art and culture Center and named as one of Gold Coast Magazine’s “40 under 40 Rising Stars.”
