jealous

Did you know that the chokecherry, blueberry, raspberry, blackberry and thimbleberry (pictured left) ALL grow wild in Minnesota?  I could use some wild berries about now.  My grocery store is getting to that point in the season that only citrus fruit has any taste and you’re best to stay clear of the seemingly gold-plated (based on the price), tasteless berries.  This next Call hails from Minnesota, home of my current berry-envy.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from River Walk Artists (East Grand Forks, MN) for their 1st Annual International Juried Exhibition.  The entry fee is low, the commission rate is even lower.  And I don’t know about you, but I like involved in “firsts”.  Give it a try…

Dinner is cooked (and eaten) in either undies or pajamas in my house. My husband usually cooks dinner.  Dinner is cooked directly after work.  My husband is a commercial potter.  How are these connected?  My hubby is forced (by me) to get out of his clay embedded clothing in the garage to prevent a gray trail in his wake.  So, he cooks in whatever was under his clothes or pajamas if he makes it that far.  This next call WANTS your clay, but please don’t attend the opening in your undies.  Take a look…

Merlot sings to me.  But the next morning, I will harm anyone attempting to sing to me.  I am allergic to the tannins after years of enjoying the taste of an earthy glass at art openings.  Now, just one glass makes me feel like I’ve been hit by a bus.  I still have a glass occasionally and deal with the consequences.  This next Call wants to see how you deal with the consequences.  Fabulous…

I am a fan of bold flavors, but I’ve never developed a taste for caraway seeds also known as rye.  The one exception to my caraway seed rule is pumpernickel rye bread.  Maybe it is the earthy texture of the pumpernickel and the more practical everyday uses for bread that make it my exception.  This next Call is my second exception for acceptable rye.  This is a great holiday opportunity…
