The art in my kitchen is more commonly viewed than any other work in my house.  Maybe it is because I spend a lot of time waiting for potatoes to boil and onions to caramelize and cheesecake to bake–actual cheesecake pictured left. My collection ranges from diary collage applied to toasters to beautiful textural miniature abstracts to large flying pigs.  This next Call could help you get your work in someone else’s kitchen.  Investigate this one…

Red is Tuesday’s color. Red roses symbolize passionate love. Red is the color of Mars. Red is the color of blood with strong symbolism as life and vitality. Today I spied organic alphabet soup in the grocery store.  There is some humor to be found in the idea that someone invested in eating organically would also want a food so tortured & processed that it can spell out words.  And, I don’t believe anyone is REALLY teaching their children to read with soup.  So do we really need to communicate with food, literally, or am I just a huge hypocrite for constantly preach about the transformative & communicative power of food?  Okay, I’m a hypocrite, ha.  But, this next Call speaks to the power of text; however, I suspect they are not searching for alphabet pasta mosaics.  Check out this fantastic venue…

Food deprivation is not new to me.  In the South, women are born dieters, as was I for half my years.  I no longer participate, opting for whole foods and a healthier self image. But, I was still dumbfounded when I read a study that proposes eating from a red dish, as opposed to the white ones I currently use, might result in smaller consumption.  Human beings are a curious sort aren’t we?  Maybe it is the association with stop signs and traffic lights.  Who knows? This next Call is curious in its own way, and leaves room for you to stretch your talents.  Don’t assume; investigate instead…
