AWARD: The Artists in Residence will have an opportunity to live and work in the historic Horlock Home in Navasota, Texas which includes living and studio space for each of the three participating artist as well as a retail gallery space. The term of each residency is roughly six (6) months. The City of Navasota will provide amenities including internet, cable, electricity, retail space and live/work space free of charge to selected artists with the purpose of providing artists the opportunity to create and sell their work.

JUROR: Kristin Hjellegjerde seeks to discover and develop new talents by creating a platform through which they can be exposed to local and international clients. Kristin Hjellegjerde acts as an art advisor for private and corporate collectors, as well as working closely with developers and architects. Established in 2012, Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery quickly gained recognition in the contemporary art world for showing a roster of innovative, international artists, both emerging and established, with strong theoretical and aesthetic bases.

AWARDS: Artists selected by the guest curator will receive a 1-page or 2-page spread including a brief bio, website, and 2-3 images in print and digital formats. All published artists will receive a digital copy of the magazine and will be promoted on our website/social media.

DISTRIBUTION: ArtMaze Magazine is an independent international publication which will be distributed both nationally and internationally in stores and via the online store. ArtMaze Mag will be available in New York (McNally Jackson Books), London (White Cube Gallery and Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery) and throughout the UK in select stores such as Magalleria (Bath), Magazine Brighton (UK) and others. ENTRY FEE: None. Limit 2 entries.

JUDGING: The panel of judges will review entries; approx. 35 artists will be short listed. Short listed works will be delivered to the corporate offices (Toronto), using reputable courier firms, the cost of which will be borne by the company.

AWARDS: $6,000 USD for 1st prize, $2,500 USD for 2d prize and $1,500 USD for 3rd prize. An add’l fund has been established to acquire more work from the shortlisted finalists, which will then become part of the permanent collection.

SALES: The listed value for the artworks can only be up to $1,500 USD in order to accommodate possible acquisition by Yamana Gold. Any work with a registered value higher than $1,500 USD will not be accepted. The entrant must specify the “catalogue selling price” in the event the corporation wishes to acquire the artwork; shipping & insurance costs will be borne by the company.

I recently attended an “abstract” dinner party. I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting into, and that made me MORE eager to attend, ha. Upon arrival, I found that every dish was comprised of food cut in an identical manner. I couldn’t tell cubes of potato from turnip or cubes of yellow carrot from summer squash. From appetizer to entree to dessert, it was an evening of simple foods prepared with time-consuming precision.
