I seem to have lost the ability to properly cook chicken.  I’m still spot on with fish, but chicken and beef are a lost art for me.  The chicken is either undercooked or overcooked, and beef it always tough.  I hate fulfilling a stereotype, but I tonight’s flat iron steak will have to be made by the man in my life.  He’s simply better at it.  Weird.  This next Call is all about Men.  Note:  This is the answer to the gallery’s Women exhibit and that deadline is coming up March 25th.  Enter both…

I’ve never been accused of being overly maternal.  However, my kid will be 14 years old soon, so I must have done something right.  He now eats brussel sprouts and asparagus.  Another point in my favor–well, OUR favor.  It was actually my husband that spent the first 12 years of our kid’s life being the more maternal one.  To hell with gender roles.  Whatever works is my motto.  This next Call wants your slant on being a woman.  Approx. 52% of you should have a bird’s eye view of this one…

fiasco

I recently reclaimed my kitchen.  Lately, the time I spend outside of my home office, art and music studios is greatly reduced, and now I handle almost ALL of the cooking again.  I’m loving it, but I have become SO territorial.  My husband can make popcorn, and it looks like someone has been killing zombies.  And why, pray tell, if the dishwasher is empty can the dirty dishes not go there instead of on the counter?  Deep breaths; I digress.  This next Call is all about Mayhem; Send them your best…

kills?

All of my life, some adult or the other has been saying “everything in moderation” to me. It has always been my favorite justification for pizza, brownies, and other I-should-know-better indulgences.  Then I watched Forks over Knives and heard “moderation kills”.  You know what killed me?  Their version of moderation was eating dairy and meat.  Really?  Milk is an indulgence now?  I have to admit, I have lowered my dairy and meat intake, but clearly, moderation is going to kill me.  This next Call is NOT about moderation, but it IS about food. or not to sushi

I used to think always equate urban settings with sushi; however, sushi can be found everywhere these days.  I know of a town with a population of approximately 450, and even their local convenience store carries sushi.  I may have to revert to the idea of street vendors or food trucks as urban food.  Or maybe truly urban food is represented not by a specific type of food so much as a large variety of options.  Hmmm.  This next call wants to know how YOU define urban.  Investigate this opportunity…
