CALL for ENTRIES:
2013 Collectors’ Choice

ELIGIBILITY:
Open to all artists 18+

MEDIA: Paintings, mixed media, paper, photography, sculpture, installation, digital, video and performance.

DEADLINE: November 15, 2012 at 11:00 pm Pacific Standard Time (PST) / Midnight, Mountain Standard Time (MST)

ENTRY FEE: $35 (USD) for 3 images, $5 each additional image, maximum 10.

JURORS: Each art collector may select one or more pieces by artists that are not currently represented in their private collection. Collectors’ names will be kept anonymous until the opening reception. Editor’s Note: My assumption is these are collectors that purchase work in the Sylvia White Gallery. Because they are anonymous, the best recommendation I have for research is to spend some time investigate the artists the gallery represents, since in theory, it is their work these collectors are purchasing–at least in part.

AWARDS: Selected artists will participate in 2013 Collector’s Choice January 2-February 9, at Sylvia White Gallery.

SALES: Unless otherwise specified, accepted works will be considered for sale at the price indicated and 30% commission will be retained by The Sylvia White Gallery.

CALL for ENTRIES: Shadows

OUCH!

I dislike overhead lighting, except in the kitchen. Much of my home is dimly lit; I prefer soft lamp lighting. But, my art studio and my kitchen are the exceptions. I’ve injured myself with everything from an Xacto knife to myriad of small and large chef knives. Lessons learned. Shadows are not the best place to create fine art or fine food. This next Call wants you to expose your shadows. Whatcha think?

This is the 21st annual competition for gallery exhibition and awards. This exhibition is devoted to the discovery, introduction and promotion of emerging artists.

ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open to all artists, national and international.

MEDIA: All media. All forms of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, graphics, digital and installation art, video, etc. are eligible. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Wall mounted works must not be taller than 96″ no wider than 120″. Sculptural work must fit through a standard height, 36″wide entry door.

DEADLINE: November 30, 2012

NOTIFICATION: No later than December 30, 2012 by email.

AWARDS: There will be a $1000 cash prize awarded to one artist. One artist will be awarded a two page display in Direct Art Volume #20, Fall 2013 issue. Two artists will be awarded a single page display. Direct Art is distributed to bookstores across the USA including Borders and Barnes and Noble. ENTRY FEES: There is a $35.00 entry fee for one to four artworks entered, presentation is by digital files, prints or 35mm slides. There is a $5.00 fee for each additional artwork above four. Details of 2D artwork count as an additional artwork. Sculptors may provide one additional view per artwork without cost. Artists accepted to exhibit will not be charged additional fees of any kind. Payments may be by check or money order payable to SlowArt Productions, or by credit card using PayPal.

SALES: All works in the show must be for sale. 30 % commission on all sales. Sale price is determined by the artist.

Online Entry: On line entries are via email or web post with direct html link . Email files must be in JPG format. JPG files when closed should be approx. 500K (1/2 MB) or less in size, when open approx. 8MB or less.

Images may also be posted to a dedicated web page and a link provided to the page. Web page images should not be download restricted. Videos artists may also post on a personal web page or on YouTube.

There are monthly featured foods at my house. Last month is was asparagus ($1.99/lb). This month it appears to be broccoli (2 double crowns for $3). I am guilty of making the occasional sauce to cover up an over-cooked piece of meat. Yes, I know that any meat that NEEDS sauce shouldn’t be served, but it happens. CALL for PROPOSALS:
Public Art

On behalf of a public art initiative for the city of Warrensburg, Missouri, the Warrensburg Arts Commission (WAC) seeks a two-dimensional design for a 10-foot diameter etched concrete circle that will be permanently installed in the sidewalk on Pine Street in historic downtown Warrensburg.

ELIGIBILITY: This is an open competition for non-professional and professional artists. A team of artists is welcome to apply, and multiple applications are allowed.

MEDIA: 2 Dimensional work. There is no pre-determined theme for artwork, but WAC suggests that the content reflect the vibrancy of downtown, the beauty of the region, and the energy of the Arts and Entertainment District.

DEADLINE: September 1, 2012

NOTIFICATION: September 7, 2012

ENTRY FEE: $20 for 1 to 3 images

SELECTION PROCESS: The Warrensburg Arts Commission and the City of Warrensburg will select one design based on creativity, appropriateness, and practicality for implementation.

AWARDS: A prize of $500 will be awarded for the chosen design. The award funds are made available through the WAC and the City of Warrensburg.

AWARDS: Four to six exhibitions during each of the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons; including, if possible, one large solo show each year by a member artist. Two to four exhibitions for its annual REACH Across Dayton collaboration with Sinclair Community College, during winter/early spring 2014 and 2015. REACH (Realizing Ethnic Awareness and Cultural Heritage) Across Dayton exhibits explore synergies between diverse cultures as expressed in the arts and humanities. Additional activities include a studies conference and workshops.
