CALL for ENTRIES:
National Juried Exhibition 2012

The Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville announces a call for entries for its National Juried Exhibition of 2012. The Arts & Culture Alliance’s National Juried Exhibition was developed to provide a forum for artists to compete on a national scale and display their work. Approximately 40-50 fine art works encompassing all styles and genres from both emerging and established artists will be selected by the juror, Patrick DeGuira, for exhibition in the main gallery of the beautifully-restored Emporium Center at 100 S. Gay Street, Knoxville’s downtown arts anchor location. The Emporium is free and open to the public Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

ELIGIBILITY: All artists 18 years and older living in the US.

MEDIA: Entries must be original works completed within the last two years in the following categories: Painting (oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, digital, and mixed media), Graphic Arts (pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, conte, colored pencil, and printmaking), 3D (sculpture, ceramic, and fibers), and Photography.

DEADLINE: Postmarked by December 8, 2012

NOTIFICATION: Mailed January 7, 2012

ENTRY FEE: $40 for up to three works. Up to 3 additional entries may be submitted for $7/ea. Diptychs and triptychs are considered one work. Works are juried by digital images only. Each 2D work may be represented by one digital image, and each 3D work may be represented by up to three separate digital images: two full views and one detail view.

JUROR: Patrick DeGuira lives and works in Nashville, TN. He has exhibited his work at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, Brooks Museum of Art, Hunter Museum of Art, Cheekwood Museum of Art, as well as numerous commercial, non-profit, University galleries, and is represented by Zeitgeist Gallery. In addition to his exhibition career, he has worked as a Museum Exhibit Designer, Educator, and Curator.

He just finished working on the Carrie Mae Weems exhibition (at the Frist in Nashville) and the exhibition the Rise and Fall of Apartheid: Photography and the Bureaucracy of Everyday Life at the International Center of Photography.

AWARDS: At least $1,000 in cash awards will be given as designated by the juror, whose decision is final.

SALES: Non-members: 45% commission (40% for cash and check sales).

Botanicals

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery announces a Juried Art Competition with the theme “Botanicals” and the gallery would like for all 2D artists (including photography) to send their best interpretation of the theme “Botanicals” by depicting flowers, herbs, leaves and plants.

ELIGIBILITY: Light Space & Time encourages entries from all 2D artists regardless of where they reside and regardless of their experience or education in the art field.

MEDIA: All two dimensional media are eligible. Botanical art will include flowers, herbs, leaves and plants.

DEADLINE: The submission process for artists ends August 28, 2012.

ENTRY FEE: $10 for 2 Entries or $15.00 for 3 to 5 Entries

AWARDS: Awards will be for 1st through 5th places. Also, 5 Honorable Mention places will be awarded. In addition, depending on the amount and the quality of the entries, Special Recognition rewards will also be given as well.

BENEFITS: Your artwork is exposed to thousands of visitors to the website each month. Your artwork is retained on the website in the Archives section for further and ongoing exposure.

The Artist’s website is linked to Light Space & Time. Winners for that month are promoted in direct email pieces to gallery owners and directors, corporate art representatives and decision makers in the art world. Winners for that month will be promoted to 50+ news and press release outlets, thus creating more traffic, exposure and back links to the artist and their website. 12 12 GALLERY announces an open call to all artists creating works on paper, the International Juried Exhibition of Works on Paper 2012. The exhibition juror, Richard Waller, Executive Director of University Museums, University of Richmond, will award up to $1000 in cash prizes.

ELIGIBILITY: All artists age 18+

MEDIA: Works on paper to be considered for the exhibition. Eligible works incorporate the use of any medium on paper, including analog and digital photography.

DEADLINE: May 4, 2012

NOTIFICATION: May 20, 2012

ENTRY FEE: $25 (US)for 3 images. Add’l images $5 (US) each, for up to 5 total

JUROR: Richard Waller is the Executive Director of University Museums, including the Harnett Museum, the Joel and Lila Harnett Print Study Center and the Lora Robins Gallery of Design from Nature. He received his master of fine arts degree from Yale University after graduating from Mankato State University in Minnesota. He also received a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Before joining the University in 1990, Waller worked at the Brooklyn Museum of Art for 19 years and taught at New York’s Parsons School of Design. He has been a curator, judge and organizer of many historical and contemporary art exhibitions and has written extensively on visual art.

AWARDS: Cash prizes up to $1000 will be awarded solely at the discretion of the exhibition juror. Recognition of work by Professor Waller may also be designated to the extent he deems appropriate. These designations may not include a cash prize.

SALES: All work must be for sale. 12 12 Gallery will receive a 35% commission.

Heart smart foods have become the norm in my house. I have scary-low blood pressure, and my doc says it makes me far less likely to have a heart attack or stroke. However, my husband is one of those string beans that can consume 5000 calories per day. If Captain Consumption is going to grow old with me, the meats are going to have to be lean, the vegetables plentiful, whole grains a constant and cheese…just an occasional indulgence. ELIGIBILITY: Artists age 18 and over are eligible to enter the exhibition.

MEDIA: Only original paintings in oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, pencil or a mixture of any of the above media are acceptable. All work must be on canvas, paper, masonite or ragboard.

DEADLINE: January 8, 2012

NOTIFICATION: Notice of acceptance posted on website January 30, 2012

ENTRY FEE: Entry fees are $35.00 for up to 3 works per artist.

JUROR: Kim Casebeer was born and raised in Kansas, and still lives in Kansas. She draws her inspiration from the simplicity of the Flint Hills, an area of wide open ranch land. These days Kim also feels at home painting in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Wyoming and Texas. Kim received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Kansas State University in 1992.

Kim’s work has been featured in numerous magazine articles. She has exhibited in many prestigious national competitions, winning many awards, including Best of Show at the 2010 Nomades del Arte National Invitational Exhibit held at Southwest Gallery. Kim has also particpated in museum shows in Arizona, Wyoming, Montana and Oklahoma.

AWARDS: Best of Show: $1,500.00, 2nd Place: $1,000.00, 3rd Place: $ 500.00, 3 Awards of Merit: $ 100.00 each, 3 Honorable Mentions & 1 Purchase Award.

SALES: A 30% commission will be retained by the City of Merriam on all sales. All work must be for sale—no NFS or POR.
