Did you know they make CHOCOLATE Pop Rocks®?  I loved Pop Rocks® as a kid, and I love that they were ahead of their time both conceptually and graphically.  Although Pop Rocks® hit the market in the mid 1970s, their packaging graphics still echo 1980s pop culture.  But chocolate coated? Ciao Gallery in association with Graffenburg Gallery will be hosting “Surrealist Manifesto” which will showcase works created by Surrealist artist Michele E. Walters.

Walters works inspiration is drawn from the original Surrealist Manifesto and has received a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council to create her next series which she will feature alongside other preselected Surrealist artists.

It is enchiladas day at my house.  When I make them, it is a painstaking process that takes hours; however, I have learned to make enough filling for two batches and freeze the 2nd half.  Tonight, I’ll have enchiladas that take just a few minutes to fill and bake. It is clementine season.  Every year around this time, clementines start popping up in the grocery store, and every year I muse over the fact that they seem more like summer fruit than winter.  Did you know that in California (where they were grown as early as 1904), a lot of people call them Christmas Oranges?  Who knew.  This next Call also hails from California.  Take a look!

I eat more cake than I’d like to admit.  In my household, it is most often in the form of cupcakes.  It is not because I prefer the taste or portion control of cupcakes.  But I find that cupcakes are easier to freeze and store.  Did you know that freezing cake (or cupcakes) before they have completely cooled traps some of the moisture in the cake?  It also makes them easier to cut or decorate.  This next Call will test the depth of your taste for the sweet stuff.  Take a look…

The Shoe Factory Art Co-op is looking for originality and boldness of design to stand out on the bistro’s walls.

JUROR:  Abbey Chambers is an Academic Advisor/Recruiter and Associate Faculty in Art History at Herron School of Art and Design.  Abbey attended Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class, with the award of Excellence in Art History and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art History in May, 2004.  She went directly into graduate school at Indiana University in Bloomington, earning her Masters Degree in Art History.  Abbey teaches courses in Art Appreciation, American Art, and American Realism, and continues doing research on the development of American art and culture from the Colonial period through the first half of the 20th century.

Abbey remains heavily involved in the local Indianapolis arts community, serving as the President of the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Downtown Artists and Dealers Association (IDADA).

AWARDS:  Monetary prizes will be awarded to Best in Show and 1st, 2nd & 3rd places.
