CHICK-A-PEA

New foods/materials are fascinating.  Well, foods that are new to me would be more accurate.  My newest is flax seed meal.  I use it to make everything from scones to crackers and biscuits.  Then there is the chickpea.  It isn’t new but some of its uses are.  Chickpeas aren’t just for hummus.  I made cookies out of them.  The best cookies ever–no exaggeration.  This next Call will let you use old materials, but the fair is named for the new ones.  This is a HUGE opportunity for someone…

Check out this Call for Entries from the New Material Art Fair for a free Solo Space at the Eva Hotel (Miami, FL).  This is an opportunity that is worth $4500, so don’t take it lightly.  The entry fee for the early deadline is only $30…

"I have been drawing ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon. When I started school, they discovered I have dyslexia. Dyslexia is damage to the information processing part of my left brain. Because of this, my right brain compensates. I have learned to read by the look of a word & not the letters that make up that word."

Digital cookbooks are not working for me.  I recently bought a gluten-free cookbook on my Kindle.  Just, NO.  First of all, my Kindle buttons don’t need butter and flaxseed crusted on them.  Secondly, because my kindle displays one page at a time, it requires an impractical amount of flipping pages.  Sometimes you just need the book.  This next Call banks on the fact that curators and directors might feel the same way.  Take a look…

Check out this Call for Entries from Studio Visit Magazine for Volumes 23 and 24, in a series of juried artist books.  It is free to apply, but it does cost if you are chosen.  For some of you, this might be the perfect way to get your work in front curators and gallerists.  Investigate for yourself…

For some reason, just the glimpse of a downtown area makes me crave Polish sausage.  No kidding.  I once flew into Atlanta & thought I would have an anxiety fit watching the city below if I couldn’t get Polish sausage & peppers as soon as I de-boarded.  It is some bizarre, vendor-cart taste memory, I suppose.  This next Call doesn’t want your sausage, but they do want the cityscape that inspires your (my) craving.  Take a look…
