It won’t come as a surprise to many of you, but I have more than a few foodie friends. They sort of cover the full range of foodie-ism too –from sous chefs to chili cookoff champions & even those that love to eat but can burn water. A recent scandal broke out amongst my chili chefs about how many of the local & regional cookoffs have become “popularity contests” with prize money going to the team that could conjure enough of their friends to attend & vote. Today has been the hottest day of the year in my area. Normally I would have hidden indoors for fear of having a heat-triggered, cough-variant asthma attack. But, I ventured forth and no asthma attack. I have dropped a few pounds recently in an effort to reduce the chances of overheating this summer. I’ve been hired to write a series of budget dessert recipes that encourage local, organic sourcing. I try to limit my personal intake of sugar because I am so easily addicted.
