CALL for ENTRIES: Art in Public Places

Learn more about Art in Public Places from Dogwood Arts!for the love of SUSHI

Raw fish and seaweed tend to be very polarizing ingredients.  Rarely do I meet someone who has a take-it-or-leave-it attitude about sushi.  It tends to be love or hate every time.  I understand why raw fish lacks appeal for so many.  But, I find converting friends into sushi-lovers is often as simple as the surprise lunch.  Sushi kitchens are usually spotless; the food is usually delicious & flavorful.  Finding lovers of public art is far easier, and this next Call proves it every year.  Take a look…

CALL for ENTRIES: Abstract 3

Learn more about "Abstract 3" from Art-competition.net!FOOD cubed

I recently attended an “abstract” dinner party.  I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting into, and that made me MORE eager to attend, ha.  Upon arrival, I found that every dish was comprised of food cut in an identical manner. I couldn’t tell cubes of potato from turnip or cubes of yellow carrot from summer squash.  From appetizer to entree to dessert, it was an evening of simple foods prepared with time-consuming precision.  I was forced to savor the preparation and intent since nothing was representational of its original form.  Abstract food.  Fascinating. CALL for ENTRIES: Materialized

Practical 3D food printing exists.  years ago I made some clever segue using Star Trek’s food replicator as a the unthinkable –food printing.  And now, there is the Bocusini, which uses all-natural food cartridges to print solid-ingredient food sculpture.  The first use that pops to mind is EDIBLE, miniature, exact reproductions of human body scans for wedding cake toppers.  Not the first thing that popped into your mind? Is it just me? What a perfectly unreasonable, delightfully impractical application.  This next Call wants your artistic applications, practicality not required.  These calls are rare; don’t miss it…
