I dislike washing dishes, just like everyone else. I have had a dishwasher for the past 10 years, but I still try to be conservative in usage. But as of June 1, we are downsizing to an apartment that does not have a dishwasher. And, while I will still avoid disposables, like paper plates, I am a strong advocate of cooking “en papillote”. Not only is it a great way to produce tender, flavor-infused dishes, it also produces one less dirty dish. This next Call also extols the praises of working with paper. Take a look…

An advocate of emerging artists and scholar of the twentieth-century avant-garde, Tommasino has organized and collaborated on numerous exhibition projects at institutions including the Centre Pompidou – Musée national d’art moderne, Paris and National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC.

Pineapples are showing up in mass at every grocer right now. I can’t eat enough to take advantage of the availability, so I was contemplating making jelly or jam. As you may know, pineapple fights the jelling process, so you have to use nearly twice as much pectin to make it work –which defeats the purpose of buying on sale. Maybe I can freeze the cleaned pineapple and wait for gooseberries come into season. These little treasures have huge amounts of pectin and can be made into jelly without ANY additional pectin.
