FOOD cubed
I recently attended an “abstract” dinner party. I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting into, and that made me MORE eager to attend, ha. Upon arrival, I found that every dish was comprised of food cut in an identical manner. I couldn’t tell cubes of potato from turnip or cubes of yellow carrot from summer squash. From appetizer to entree to dessert, it was an evening of simple foods prepared with time-consuming precision. ELIGIBILITY: All artists age 18+
MEDIA: Open to still media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital, prints, fiber art, collage, etc.
THEME: Abstract “…artwork must be based on pure or ambiguous abstraction, where the subject or message of the art is pushed to visual limits so that there is little or no representation of the real world (as in non-representational) …The composition elements and aesthetic principles of the work must rely on form, color, action, lines, marks, texture, etc. to create a purely abstract work of art to engage the viewer and draw them into the intention of the artwork.”

NOTIFICATION: November 28, 2016
ENTRY FEE: $25 for up to 3, $5 ea. add’l
AWARDS: 20 artists will be selected for an online group exhibit, “Abstract 3” at Gallery25N; the exhibit and artists will be extensively marketed worldwide to over 20,000 people including art buyers, gallery owners, curators, collectors, etc.
