Not many people know I was born in Florida. I spent my youngest years with a chicken leg on a string tied to my big toe trying to lure blue crabs for dinner. Florida reminds me of blue crab. Check out this Call for Entries from juror Lisa Rockford for Rough & Tumble an exhibit in the FAT Village ARTS District (Fort Lauderdale, FL). The Rough & Tumble exhibition will open on August 31, for the monthly FAT Village Artwalk, with a 2nd ArtWalk on September 28, and included in the Third Annual ART FALLOUT downtown Fort Lauderdale art tour on October 5th, 2013. Rough & Tumble
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists
MEDIA: Sculpture, Installation, Video, Mixed media, Found Object Assemblage, and/or non-traditional media are preferred. Larger sizes and Site specificity preferable. The exhibition space is a raw Warehouse space, 8000 square feet of open space (no columns), cement floors, 12 foot brick walls, with much a domed ceiling that begins at 17 feet high and rises to at least 25 feet high. NOTIFICATION: August 7, 2013
ENTRY FEE: $15 jury fee for up to 10 images. If accepted, each artist will be asked to pay a one time, $10 participation fee (on top of the jury fee, a Total of $25).
JUROR/CURATOR: Lisa Rockford received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Lisa is an Assistant Professor at Broward College, a resident artist at Sailboat Bend artist Lofts, and founding member 1310 Gallery. Lisa began curating Contemporary art exhibitions in her position as Art Services Director of the Dittmar Gallery at Northwestern University in 2000.
Lisa was awarded the Innovative Collaborative Grant through Funding Arts Broward in 2011 for her Solo show at the Art and culture Center and named as one of Gold Coast Magazine’s “40 under 40 Rising Stars.”
SALES: A 20% commission is required from sales of artwork in the exhibition.
