LEMONY
I ran across Buddha’s finger a couple of years ago. What a bizarre, other-worldly looking fruit. It is a type of citron and has the aroma of a lemon. It makes great candied peel and is fantastic for flavoring vodka, or infusing oil or sugar. The best part is that the pith doesn’t have the bitter taste that is commonly in the white of the lemon. I would love to have a keep just for ornamental reasons since fruit tends to last longer “on the vine” than flowers do. The fruit of this tree just doesn’t look real. The next Call wants just the opposite–subject matter that appears real but is not. This is a science fiction lovers dream…

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists
MEDIA: Open to work of imaginative realism, i.e. science fiction, fantasy, horror, etc. The categories include: Oil/acrylic, pen/ink,digital/photoshop, & other work that can be represented by a 2-D image.
DEADLINE: December 4, 2015
NOTIFICATION: January 2016
ENTRY FEE: $10 each image, limit 10. Images 5 & 10 are free.
JUROR: The Jury Panel is comprised of four individuals personally entrenched in the creation, sales or promotion of imaginative realism artworks; Erica Berkowitz, Patrick Jones, Lauren Panepinto & Allen Williams.
AWARDS: Artists have a chance to win $5,000 in Cash Prizes. Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards in each of the Categories will also receive a full page in the IBA book dedicated to that image.
