I dislike the semantics of having an “open mind”. Doesn’t that, quite literally, mean that anything can go in and out? I don’t want that for my mind any more than I want that for my menu. I simply will not abide even a “devil’s advocate” argument on some subjects anymore because for me, wrong is wrong. I feel the same way about food. I’ve tried an impossibly large number of foods over the years. I will not even entertain the possibility of tasting some foods anymore. Grubs might be fantastic or even taste like my favorite stinky cheese, but I won’t be eating them, EVER. Call me closed-minded AND closed-mouthed in this respect. Luckily, this next show is wide open. Investigate…

BWAC has a truly unique gallery – a massive Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront in Brooklyn, NY. Its enormous space affords them the opportunity to exhibit really huge work, and they welcome it.
ELIGIBILITY: 18+ Residents of the U.S. & Territories
MEDIA: Virtually every medium is accepted, including: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Photography, Pastel, Drawing, Print, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Assemblage, Installation, Fabric.
ENTRY FEE: Early Bird (until February 25, 2014): $45 for up to 3 plus $5 ea. add’l. February 26 to March 10, 2014: $65 for up to 3 plus $5 ea. add’l.

JUROR: Paulina Pobocha is an Assistant Curator in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at The Museum of Modern Art, New York. Prior to joining the curatorial staff of MoMA, Paulina was a Joan Tisch Fellow at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York where she lectured on a broad range of subjects in contemporary and modern art. In 2011 she was appointed critic at the Yale University School of Art.
AWARDS: $3000 in cash awards including $1000 for Best of Show
