When I am cold, I live on soups and stews. Currently, I am cold and dreaming of oyster stew. However, as I frequently complain, my husband is allergic to seafood. So, no oyster stew for me. Check out this Call for Entries from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for Contemporary Indigeneity at the Great Plains Art Museum. This is their first juried show, so let’s show them some support, folks! The entry fee is low, but if you don’t live in the Great Plains area, this will probably require some research on your part. CALL for ENTRIES:
Contemporary Indigeneity
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists.
MEDIA: Eligible works will express some element of North American Indigenous culture and have a contemporary or historical significance and placement within the Great Plains of North America.
DEADLINE: February 22, 2012
NOTIFICATION: April 7, 2012
ENTRY FEE: A $15 donation for 1-5 entries is suggested.
JUROR: Submitted works will be blindly reviewed by a panel of Great Plains Art Museum staff, board members, and fellows of the Center for Great Plains Studies and judged on aesthetic and technical merit.
AWARDS: Over $5,000 in awards, including the potential to be purchased for the permanent collection of the Great Plains Art Museum.
SALES: All sales to the public will be conducted through the Great Plains Art Museum with a 100% return to the artist. A suggested donation of 25% of sold works is appreciated.
