Celine Eimann is a Swiss-born artist who is now based in Sydney, Australia.
Eimann studied fine arts in Switzerland and Visual Communication Design at Billy Blue College of Graphic Arts in Sydney.
As far as she can recall, Eimann always had a passion for painting, staining, coloring almost everything within the reach of her fingertips (which sometimes got her in trouble)!
More recently she also started writing and illustrating children stories, which will be soon available in English and in French. And, it is the illustration (pictured to the left) that truly grabbed my attention.
When I inquired further about this piece after tripping across it on Eimann’s site, I found that that there were actually an number of pieces for a children’s book that written and illustrated by Eimann called The Green Stone-Eater Monster.
While The Green Stone-Eater Monster has yet to be published, it was recently awarded first prize (in the picture book/graphic novel category) at the Chidren and Young Adult Writers and Illustrators conference in Brisbane, Australia.
In a recent blog post, Eimann outlines her current project, “I am now working on 3 new different projects. One of them being my second children book. And for this one I am actually stepping into the world of ‘little creatures’…
“I am researching and sketching how to make a fairy looking deliciously graceful and the forest mysteriously magical…I have a zillion images running in my head… I am trying new methods… I know it will come, it always does. Doesn’t it?”
I am excited to see what comes of Eimann’s newest projects and to buy a copy or two of The Green Stone-Eater Monster when it comes to print. You can find Eimann all over the web. In addition to Eimann’s web site, you can follow her on Twitter, find her on MySpace and Facebook…and don’t forget to check out her blog. I look forward to seeing more of her work!
